MANHATTAN — Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?
It's on the Upper West Side, at least temporarily, as the city commemorates the 40th anniversary of the hallmark children's show by renaming a part of 64th Street where it meets Columbus Ave.
Getting there is brought to you by the trains A, B, C, D and the No. 1.
"Sesame Street," where Muppets and people coexist in an idyllic New York City neighborhood, has been teaching children across the world how to spell, read, count and grapple with social issues, including diversity, gender equality and the environment.
The 40th anniversary season kicks off Tuesday with a special appearance by First Lady Michelle Obama, who will host a segment on eating fresh fruits and vegetables. The street renaming also takes place that day.
Other celebrity guests will include Sarah Jessica Parker, Kobe Bryant, Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear.
Episodes during the new season will focus on maintaining a healthy diet and taking care of nature.
