MANHATTAN — A dead man's body was found on the tracks of the L subway stop at 14th Street and First Avenue on Wednesday, police said.

Police were called to the East Village subway stop around 10:30 a.m. and found a 49-year-old man lying unconscious on the tracks. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The man was not identified. The city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Train service on the L was shut down in both directions until around 12:30 p.m.
