Police are waiting for DNA test results to prove whether they have caught a Harlem serial rapist, the Daily News reports.

An ex-con from Pennsylvania has been in NYPD custody since Saturday, when he was picked up in Hamilton Heights on an unrelated outstanding warrant, the News reports.

He matches the description of the suspect who carried out four rapes and sexual assaults in upper Manhattan since the beginning of August.

Three of the victims have not been able to pick him out of a lineup, sources told the News. The fourth victim had not yet seen a lineup.

Police have submitted the suspect's genetic material from a soda can to see if it matches the DNA samples taken from victims after they were attacked.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, reportedly told police they should be looking for his twin brother, according to the News.

He has no twin, police sources told the News.

Officials have been hunting for the rapist since Aug. 1, when he grabbed a woman at W. 148th St. and Broadway, pushed her into an alleyway, and sexually assaulted her before robbing her.

He assaulted and robbed two additional women in the next two weeks -- both of them in the elevators of their apartment buildings.

The latest attack took place on Labor Day, and marked the first time the suspect broke into his victim's apartment.
