ROGERS PARK — The 16th Annual Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival hits the cobblestone streets of Rogers Park this weekend.
Spanning several blocks of Morse and Glenwood avenues near the Morse "L" station, the free festival begins at 6 p.m. Friday with a Cobblestone Jam at the festival's South Stage, followed by two more days of live entertainment, food, and an artists market between 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
More than 50 performers are set to fan out among the festival's three stages, including Sullivan High School's marching band, rock bands and The African Queens of Sullivan High School, as well as local favorite The Polkaholics and more.
Organizers also expect more than 150 artists and vendors to set up shop at the weekend-long event, showcasing everything from jewelry, to art, pottery, photography, clothing, items for animals, mixed media and other local wares.
Among places on tap for food and drink are popular neighborhood spots like Amazing Kale Burger, Heartland Café, Badou Senegalese, R Public House, Rogers Park Social, Los Portales, JB Alberto's Pizza and Rogers Pier, with Morse Avenue newcomer Empirical Brew Pub slated to sling out its Chicago-made beer during its festival debut.
