LOGAN SQUARE — Blink and you might miss the recent progress at the "micro-apartment" project site.
Just days after crews finished tearing down the apartment building and shuttered car wash at 2342-48 N. California Ave., more crews arrived with construction cranes to begin building a six-story, 138-unit project in its place.

It's a stark contrast to what's happening down the road at the Megamall site, which, albeit much larger, has sat empty and quiet since the massive flea market buildings came down in March.
There's no official word yet on when Logan's Crossing — the $100 million, mixed-use development taking over the Megamall site at 2500 N. Milwaukee Ave. — will begin to rise.
And it's unclear what's causing the lag time between demolition and construction. The developer didn't immediately respond to a request for comment late Monday.
But one thing is for certain: Both projects — when complete — will change the fabric of the neighborhood.
