Not Into Fests? Nine Other Things To Do Around Lincoln Square This Weekend

LINCOLN SQUARE — Chicago summer festival season is in full swing, including Square Roots and Burger Fest, but if your idea of fun does not include rubbing elbows on the street with thousands of random strangers, there are plenty of other events and activities to enjoy this weekend.

• Food Truck Friday kicks off 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in North Park, which now has a permanent food truck stand at 3621 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Grab doughnuts and milkshakes from Beavers Donuts.

• Swing by Loafers (aka, the Old Style bar at Lawrence and Rockwell) for Jimbo's Cajun Boil, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Enjoy shrimp, sausage, shredded pork, stuffed bell peppers and more.

• Enjoy classical music under the stars starting at 7 p.m. Friday in Ravenswood Manor Park, 4626 N. Manor Ave. The Temporal Brass Quintet and Ursa Ensemble are scheduled to perform.

• Shop farmers markets in Horner Park and North Center on Saturday, or Independence Park on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Irving Park Road and Hamlin.

• Stroll through the gorgeous gardens of Bowmanville during the neighborhood's annual garden walk, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is a suggested $5 donation. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

Inventor Craighton Berman is hosting a pop-up shop in his studio, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 3251½ W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Check out his latest coffeemaker and enjoy a free cup of joe.

• Get artsy at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, during the opening reception for "On Paper," an exhibition of works by finalists for the International Printmaking Award. The free event will include demonstrations and hands-on activities, 4912 N. Western Ave.

• Pack a picnic and head to Bohemian National Cemetery, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, 5255 N. Pulaski Road. There will be live entertainment and tours of the historic grounds at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Admission is free but tours cost $10.

• Close out the weekend with a date night at T&B Grill, 3658 W. Lawrence Ave., where the answer to "tacos or burgers?" is "both." For just $29.99, share two mini-burgers, four tacos, fries and dessert. The restaurant is BYOB.
