WEST RIDGE — Though Chicago Public Schools' ongoing financial crisis is far from funny, at least one group of parents is trying to laugh through the pain.

For the second year, Jamieson Elementary School's family and friends group is holding an adults-only night of stand-up comedy and fundraising, which aims to raise money for the school through a dinner and silent auction. A cash bar will also be available.

The event costs $30 in advance, or $40 at the door, and will take place from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Juliana's Restaurant in West Ridge, 3001 W. Peterson Ave.

In 2016, the group raised $2,000, but it's hoping with the addition of an enticing auction it can bump that number to $6,000 this year.

Prizes from the silent auction include free pie for a year from Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits, free monthly wine or coffee for a year, tickets to Cubs, Sox and Chicago Fire games, admission to the Field Museum, a month of unlimited yoga and more.

The evening's comedy will be provided by Alex Kumin of WCU'Us "One Night Stand-Up," Felonious Munk of "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore," Calvin Evans of "Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City," and Marty DeRosa of "Comedians You Should Know."
