HERMOSA — Volunteers are needed to help make improvements at Kelvyn Park and Kelvyn Park High School this weekend.

Those who are interested should meet at the northwest corner of Kelvyn Park, 4438 W. Wrightwood Ave., Saturday at 8:45 a.m. for tree planting orientation.

Beginning at 9 a.m., volunteers will plant more than 40 trees — mostly on Kilbourn and Parker avenues — until 1 p.m.

Students and other members of the community are also using the day to clean up Kelvyn Park High School, 4343 W. Wrightwood Ave.

Some of the tasks include organizing the book room, painting the hallways, hanging college pennants, cleaning lockers and updating bulletin boards.

The event is the result of a partnership between Hermosa Neighborhood Association, Kelvyn Park School National Honors Society, Michigan State University, Openlands and the Kelvyn Park Advisory Council.
