ROGERS PARK — Rogers Park residents hungry 'round the clock will soon have a new place to chow down after midnight.
Clarke's Diner at 6431 N. Sheridan Road is gearing up to open its doors 24 hours a day by late April or early May, Loyola representatives said.
The diner will fill a 3,200-square-foot space at the Granada Center just down the block from ArrivaDolce, a coffee, scones and sandwich shop set to open late May or early June.
Also at the Granada, Local Goods Chicago pop-up gift shop and Third Coast Comics recently opened as part of Loyola's new Lakeshore Community Partners initiative that seeks to re-brand the area just north of Devon Avenue as RogersEdge business district.
Clarke's has long been a diner favorite in Chicago, with a location in Lincoln Park, Hyde Park and formerly in Lakeview. Adjacent suburban Evanston also has a location.
Known for serving pancakes, waffles, salads, soups, coffee and other Americana classics, Clarke's recently left a void in Lakeview after it unexpectedly closed its popular spot near the Belmont Red Line station.
Those anxious for Clarke's meals on the Far North Side will now get their chance to enjoy them yet again.
In December, Loyola's student newspaper, The Loyola Phoenix, reported the Rogers Park Clarke's would not have a full bar like the Lakeview location, but that owner Steve Dionysopoulos said he was trying to get a liquor license for beer and wine.
Dionysopoulos could not be reached for comment.
