LINCOLN PARK — Donate your old instruments to Lincoln Park High School's "extremely underfunded" band and orchestra programs this weekend.
The school, 2001 N. Orchard St., is hosting an instrument drive Saturday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m at the side door band entrance, 2035 N. Burling St. Tax donation letters will be provided to those who donate.
"We are extremely underfunded. Budget cuts across the public school system have forced Band and Orchestra parents (BOP) to constantly dig into their pockets for the most basic of needs that were once publicly funded," the school's GoFundMe page reads.
More than 1,000 students participate in the band and orchestra programs at the school, according to the page. The school's jazz band has performed at Chicago Jazz Fest.
Those who can't make it to Saturday's drive are encouraged to donate money via the GoFundMe page.
In addition to instruments, the students need money for sheet music, strings, reeds, transportation and uniform cleaning.
