CHICAGO — This week, we learned that Chicago parks have 48 statues of men who lived, but none of actual women.
WBEZ's report had us thinking: Which woman deserves to be honored with a statue of her own in a Chicago park?
Honestly, there are a lot.
It includes women who have lived in and made an impact on Chicago, including a Nobel Peace Prize winner (Jane Addams), a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet (Gwendolyn Brooks), a presidential candidate (Hillary Clinton) and civil rights leaders and singers (Ida B. Wells and Mavis Staples).
There is a statue of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz in Lincoln Park's Oz Park, but Dorothy is a fictional character.
