There Are No Statues of Women in Parks, Who Should Get the First? (POLL)

July 23, 2015 5:34am | Updated July 23, 2015 5:34am

CHICAGO — This week, we learned that Chicago parks have 48 statues of men who lived, but none of actual women.

WBEZ's report had us thinking: Which woman deserves to be honored with a statue of her own in a Chicago park?

Honestly, there are a lot.

It includes women who have lived in and made an impact on Chicago, including a Nobel Peace Prize winner (Jane Addams), a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet (Gwendolyn Brooks), a presidential candidate (Hillary Clinton) and civil rights leaders and singers (Ida B. Wells and Mavis Staples).

There is a statue of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz in Lincoln Park's Oz Park, but Dorothy is a fictional character.

Click on a photo below to vote on who you think is most deserving of a statue.
