UPTOWN — Have you noticed anything different about the island at Racine Street and Broadway lately?

A new sculpture, "Three Spheres of Self" by artist Jaci Willis, was recently installed in the triangular pedestrian island outside of the Riviera Theatre. It replaced the 12-foot aluminum sculpture that was placed there roughly a year ago.

The public art, which was made with stainless steel, was installed through the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit, a nonprofit designed to bring art to Chicago's neighborhoods.

This is Uptown's second year participating in the program, according to Uptown's economic development organization, Uptown United.

Willis is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria. She has also taught there, according to Uptown United. Her sculptures have been on display in Lincoln Park and Old Town.

What do you think of Willis' piece? How does it compare to last year's sculpture? Let us know in the comments.
