CHICAGO — Two men were wounded in separate shootings early Saturday morning in the Brighton Park and East Garfield Park neighborhoods, according to police.

In total, at least 17 people have been wounded and 3 have died from gunfire since Friday night, police said.

At 5:18 a.m., a man, 29, was shot in his leg while outside in the 3000 block of West Jackson Boulevard, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. According to police, the victim is a documented gang member.

Eight minutes earlier, around 5:10 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot twice in his left shoulder while in the 2700 block of West 47th Place in Brighton Park, according to Sedevic.

The man was dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital by friends where he was listed in critical condition, before being transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition remained critical, Sedevic said.
