HYDE PARK — Chicago Public Schools released on Friday guidelines on how to keep Dyett High School open.
CPS decided in October to reconsider a 2012 decision to close the school and is seeking plans for how the high school at 555 E. 51st St. could remain an open-enrollment school in 2016.
The documents released on the CPS website Friday afternoon give broad parameters, asking would-be school operators to define a culture for the school, lay down general policies and set a budget using the district’s current funding levels of $5,444 per student.
The structure of the process would appear to give some advantages to the Coalition to Revitalize Dyett, a group of community organizations that has put pressure on CPS and politicians to approve a detailed proposal to keep the school open as an open-enrollment school with a focus on green technology.
