CHICAGO — Hamlin Park Playground could use your help.

Nonprofit group Friends of the Parks is looking for volunteers to help spread wood material, or fibar, underneath playground equipment like slides, monkey bars and swings at the playground at 3035 N. Hoyne Ave. from 10 a.m.-noon Monday.

Members of the organization and Chicago Park District employees will join volunteers to help spread fibar, which will ensure safety for children who play at the playground.

Volunteers will be asked to use wheel barrels, rakes and other equipment, so they must wear appropriate clothing, including sneakers or boots.

They also must be 18 or older to participate.

To volunteer, email Friends of the Parks at info@fotp.org or call 312-857-2757, Ext. 5.
