WEST TOWN — Wells Community Academy High School is throwing a fundraiser party Friday night to raise money for its $1.6 million "Field of Hope" project.

Wellsapalooza 2014 is the latest in a series of efforts to drum up cash for the field, which would provide space for students and neighborhood kids to play baseball and soccer. It would also mean Wells could have an adaptable field for little league games and girls softball.

Wells students now play their outdoor sports on concrete.

The party takes place at the future field site, 936 N. Ashland Ave., from 4:30-8:30 p.m., and includes live music, food from local restaurants and a silent auction, according to event organizers.

Local band The Fabulous Naturals is scheduled to play along with Suavecito, The Rules, GAPC and Alex and his Acoustic Guitar.

There is no admission fee for the event, and all proceeds from the night go toward the project, according to event organizers.
