CHICAGO — Though bratwursts, hot dogs and burgers tend to be the usual fare at sports venues, PETA suggests it's easier than you'd think to find animal-free options at Bulls and Blackhawks games.
The United Center, even with its many meaty selections, landed on the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal's top 10 list of vegetarian-friendly NBA arenas, the animal rights group said on its blog.
"Between Derrick Rose's impending return and tasty meat-free fare at the United Center, Bulls fans have plenty to celebrate these days," PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt said. "And when fans work up an appetite and hit the arena's concession stands, coming away with healthy, humane and delicious vegetarian fare is a slam-dunk."
In particular, PETA singled out the venue's vegan sloppy Joe, veggie burgers and fruit as delectable meat-free choices at the United Center.
The home of the Bulls and the Blackhawks landed seventh on the list, with the Staples Center, home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, taking the top spot.
