Man Tries to Rape Jogger in Riverside Park

MANHATTAN — Cops are on the hunt for a rapist who tried to attack a jogger in Riverside Park in broad daylight but was scared off by witnesses.

The frightening attack unfolded at 6 p.m. on April 13 when the 24-year-old victim was jogging on a wooded path between West 122nd and West 125th Street.

According to cops the suspect approached the victim from behind and began to choke her.

He then allegedly tossed her to the ground and tried to rape her but was interrupted by witnesses, police said.

The victim was hospitalized with minor injuries.

According to cops, the suspect is Hispanic, 35- to 40-years-old, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap and backpack, both of which had a Nike symbol on them.
