QUEENS — A 40-year-old man crossing a busy intersection in Fresh Meadows was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday, police said.
The victim was walking south on Union Turnpike near Springfield Boulevard when he was struck by a 2000 Volkswagon just before 6 p.m., police said.
Paramedics found the unidentified man unconscious and rushed him to the nearby North Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, fire officials said.
The 24-year-old woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene and was not charged, police said.
