UPPER WEST SIDE — A fire broke out at a high-rise apartment building on West End Avenue Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The blaze began on the 17th floor of the 29-story apartment building at 205 West End Ave., near West 70th Street, shortly after noon, the FDNY said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, officials said.
The building's doorman said the small fire started inside the apartment of an elderly woman who lives alone.
"I smelled it and then saw the flames," said Louis Santana, 29, who's worked at the building for the past two-and-a-half years. "Nobody got hurt, she wasn’t in there at the time."
Building resident Josh Saftler was standing outside the high-rise when he saw the flames.

“I was outside smoking and someone said, 'Oh my gosh, flames,'" he said. "I saw flames coming out the window. I don’t think anyone was hurt."
