MANHATTAN — If you're looking for a whoopie cushion, rest assured: Manhattan's first outpost of the suburban mall mainstay Spencer Gifts is coming in time for the holiday season, its realtor announced Monday.

The gag gift retailer has leased 691 Broadway, according to Winick Realty Group, which represents Spencer Gifts and the space's landlord, Mercer Square LLC. The storefront was previously home to a location of vintage clothing store Andy's Chee-Pees.

The 1,800-square-foot space is in prime NYU country, between West Third and West Fourth streets, close to college student favorites Urban Outfitters and American Apparel.

"The area is Spencer Gifts' target demographic of shoppers —18- to 24-year-olds," Michael Gleicher of Winick Realty Group said. "The NYU community and the SoHo shoppers are right there."

Manhattanites currently have to travel to Jersey City's Newport Centre mall or the Queens Center mall for their Spencer's goods, which include a selection of flatulant-sound machines.

Spencer's Facebook page bills the 600-plus location chain as a destination for mixed martial arts gear, lava lamps, black light posters and "beer pong necessities."

The store should be open by the holidays, Gleicher said.
