MANHATTAN — Residents are taking to Twitter and Facebook to save the "Ghostbusters" fire house, the home of one of three Manhattan fire companies slated for closure under the mayor's latest budget plan.
"Mayor Bloomberg of NYC has announced plans to close Hook & Ladder 8 in NYC...Who you gonna call? The Mayor and Tell him NO," reads the Facebook page, which had more than 250 'likes' by Friday evening.
"The GB's have been there for us now we need to be there for them! Please "LIKE" our SAVE THE GHOSTBUTERS FIRE STATION PAGE and spread the word," it says.
Ladder 8 at 14 North Moore St. in TriBeCa was used as the fictional headquarters of paranormal detectives in the hit 1984 film "Ghostbusters" and its 1989 sequel.
"We're working on a plan," @SaveTheGBHQ tweeted Friday.
