CHINATOWN — An elderly woman was hit and injured by a cab in Chinatown Friday morning.

The cabbie of the SUV taxi said he had just turned right on East Broadway from Pike Street when he hit the woman, who the FDNY said was 85 years old.

"I knew I hit something. I looked and she was laying on the ground," said the driver who added he never saw the woman.

The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, the FDNY said.

The call came in to the fire department at 9:40 a.m., fire officials said.

"She didn't move, but when the firemen came I thought she could talk," said an employee of the First American International Bank, who witnessed the accident but declined to give her name.

Police gave the driver a Breathalyzer.  It was not immediately clear whether he would face charges.
