UPPER WEST SIDE — Foodies can circle Sept. 20 in red.
That's the day specialty grocer Trader Joe's will open at West 72nd Street and Broadway, according to a handwritten sign posted in the store's window.
"Guess what, Upper West Side...Trader Joe's is coming!" reads the sign.
The store will occupy ground-floor retail space in the new luxury high-rise The Corner.
Trader Joe's will set up shop just two blocks from Fairway Market, a favorite among Upper West Siders.
Fairway nearly closed its second-floor cafe earlier this summer to make way for more grocery space so it could compete against Trader Joe's, the New York Times reported.
But Fairway reconsidered the cafe closure and said it will keep the eatery open for a year, then decide whether it makes sense to maintain the cafe.
