HARLEM— Perfect weather helped set new records at a Harlem race ran to honor the man who brought the New York City Marathon to all five boroughs.

The Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run and NYC Family Heath Walk for the Children of Haiti was won on Saturday by Abiyot Endale with a time of 15:00.

Sally Meyerhoff was the fastest lady of the day with a time of 17:09 - both new course records.

Sounding the starting horn was Congressman Charles Rangel, who was joined on the stage by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and NYRR CEO Mary Wittenberg.

Other notable participants of the run/walk were Percy Sutton's daughter, Keisha Sutton-James, and Stringer's fiancee, Elyse Buxbaum, who is weeks away from her wedding day.

"This race is a compliment to the kind of leader Percy Sutton was to the city," said Stringer who proudly stood with his fiance at the finish line, "He ... helped make the marathon the success it is today."

Competitors included three sisters who ran together for the first time. Dragica Cosic, 29, topped her two sisters Dunia Cosic, 34, and Danica Cosic, 35,

"It was a lot of fun, though the hills were a surprise," said Dunia.
