UPPER WEST SIDE — A windowpane in the Time Warner Center, six stories above Columbus Circle, shattered on Friday afternoon, bringing emergency crews to the intersection of West 60th Street and Broadway.

A two-man work crew with the aid of a crane gingerly removed the glass from the window frame while throngs of New Yorkers and tourists craned their necks and snapped pictures.

The glass never fell to the ground and nobody was hurt in the incident. NYPD kept the sidewalk and the street below clear of pedestrians and car traffic.

“We’re just making sure it doesn’t fall on people,” said a police officer at the scene.

When asked how the windown had broken, the officer said it was structural damage.
