MANHATTAN — A bartender is accused of trying to rape a female guest at the Windham Garden Hotel in Chelsea after getting a key to her room last Friday, the New York Post reported.

Manuel Gomez-Rodriguez, 30, was arrested and charged with attempted rape, sexual abuse and burglary. 

Gomez-Rodriguez reportedly met a 27-year-old woman at the restaurant, San Rocco, where he tends bar at the W. 24th Street hotel. He left the restaurant with the woman to go to another bar, the Post reported.

After parting ways, Gomez-Rodriguez allegedly got a copy of the woman's room key and attacked her while she slept. The woman was able to knock him off her bed and push him out of the room before dialing 911, the paper reported.

Police are investigating into how Gomez-Rodriguez obtained a copy of the woman's room key.

Gomez-Rodriguez was released Saturday on $5,000 bail after his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
