MIDTOWN — The Shake Shack proposed for Times Square breezed through its Community Board liquor license meeting. At the hearing for its NoLIta location, not so much.

Community Board 4's Business Licenses and Permits Committee North voted unanimously to approve Shake Shack's liquor license for its location inside the yet to be opened Intercontinental Hotel on Eighth Avenue and 44th Street. Burgers should be hitting the grill by July.

The Danny Meyer-owned burger and shake joint, that had people lined up seemingly for miles at its original Madison Square Park location, has other locations springing up across Manhattan. Two are on the way for the Upper East Side and NoLIta.

A hearing on the Prince Street location didn't go as well for Shake Shack. Tuesday night's Community Board 2 meeting attracted angry residents who balked at the eatery, Eater.com reported. The outcry was such that a Shake Shack official withdrew their liquor license request, according to the site.

Back in Midtown, Austin Publicover, facilities manager for Shake Shack, said there had been no complaints from the local community over the new location.

"We pride ourselves on out community relations," Publicover said. "If it is not a smooth process we will make amends."

Shake Shack and its liquor license will now go before the full board meeting with CB4 on March 3.

The Midtown Shake Shack is expected to be open from 10:30 a.m until midnight, and will seat 60 people.
