UPPER EAST SIDE — A major Manhattan snow storm means one thing for Upper East Side kids — sledding in Central Park.
Area kids headed straight to the 72nd Street entrance of the park Wednesday morning tugging plastic sleds, inner tubes and their bundled-up parents while local businesses shoveled and salted sidewalks.
The snow may have excited area school kids, but it was a bit of a letdown for some Manhattan residents who prepared for the worst.
"I'm overdressed," Lucas Horn admitted sheepishly as he headed to work along 64th Street decked out in snow boots, a wool hat and ski goggles. "I'm hot."
Dow Fund workers Christopher Lownicki and Derrick Jimenez, who were shoveling the sidewalk outside agreed the snow so far was lackluster.
"There's not much to shovel now," said Lownicki, who had been shoveling since 7:30 a.m. "It's just slush."
Roads were plowed and cars were getting through smoothly early on, but businesses said traffic had been lighter than usual.
Nasseei Ali, who runs a newstand on the corner near the 68th Street subway stop said the snow for him was nothing but a big pain.
"Business is slow," he said, after shoveling the area around his stand.
