Meet the Stars of the First-Ever NYPD Canine Calendar

January 3, 2017 11:34am | Updated January 3, 2017 2:05pm

When these canines aren't fighting crime, they're posing for the camera.

Members of the NYPD's K9 unit are the stars of a 2017 calendar published by the New York City Police Foundation, a nonprofit that raises money and conducts research on behalf of the NYPD.

The cover of the foundation's first-ever canine calendar features a pooch named Diesel, who may not know how to drive the police car he's sitting in but "still gets to navigate," the caption reads.

Other hounds inside are pictured on the job, with tasks including sniffing for bombs and tracking down missing persons.

The police foundation is sending copies of the 13-month calendar, which runs through January 2018, to contributors who donate at least $20.

That money will "directly benefit new and ongoing NYPD programs and initiatives," according to the organization's website
