NEW YORK CITY — Women across the city donned pantsuits and white ensembles to show their support for Hillary Clinton and mark her historic run.
On Tuesday, the hashtags #Pantsuit and #Pantsuitnation were trending on social media as voters posed for photos wearing the presidential candidate's signature two-piece.
Women also wore white — the official suffragette color — to show their excitement for the chance to vote for a woman president. People used the hashtag #wearwhitetovote to encourage others to join the movement.
Voters also wore white to honor the suffragette movement.
Kathleen Vogelsang, 28, wore all white to vote in Williamsburg on Tuesday in solidarity with suffragettes who used white to symbolize purity and politics.
"Those people worked really hard to make sure I had the right to vote," she said. "It definitely felt important to vote."
Vogelsang doesn't own a pantsuit, so she chose to wear white as the next best option, she said.
A Park Slope mom-and-daughter duo wore matching white sweaters to vote.
Park Sloper Claire McCue and her 2-year-old daughter Leora Rose Radicella who were dressed in matching white sweaters on Tuesday.
The family visited Seneca Falls, the birthplace of women's rights, earlier this year, and Leora has also been reading a picture book about Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
"She's been learning all about women's rights," McCue said of her daughter.
"Who did we vote for?" she asked the toddler.
"Hillary Clinton!" said an excited Leora.
An Inwood mom voted with her daughters, all dressed in white.
Inwood resident Shannon Park brought her daughters with her to vote and all three dressed in white, she said.
