"Costume or hipster?"
It's a question many New Yorkers ask themselves walking down city streets — except on Halloween.
Here are a few of our favorite holiday getups, paraded on the concrete and captured on social media, this year:
The 94th Precinct's school safety team pulled out all the stops for their "Ghostbusters" group costume
Props go to the team member who drew the short straw and wore the inflated Stay Puft Marshmallow Man costume.
This woman makes a very convincing Jillian Holtzmann, played by Kate McKinnon in the 2016 remake
This drag queen nailed the Harley Quinn look, from this summer's blockbuster film "Suicide Squad"
We've yet to see a more convincing Finn, from the latest "Star Wars" episode
This homage to David Bowie's alter ego Ziggy Stardust is celestial
This little Spock's Vulcan ears are on point
Keep your poké balls at the ready because Charizards are flying everywhere
On the loose, too: a Pac-Man ghost
Are we looking at a swamp monster or a clump of Spanish moss? Either way, we like it.
Sidekick robot Gir, from the Nickelodeon show "Invader Zim," made her own elaborate costume
So did this luminous Corpse Bride
We may never see the likes of this contest-winning "Nacho Libre" costume again
But we do expect to see more "Stranger Things" costumes, as the Netflix series progresses to its second season
Remember the "Arthur" memes that exploded on the Internet in August?
And how about a throwback to 1992's "My Cousin Vinny?"
You can kick us in the shins, but we love a good pun costume
New Yorkers like to dress up their babies as tasty food items
We'd buy a cone from this adorable Mister Softee
But this cockroach — we'd avoid it at all costs
Seriously — zombies, vampires and ghouls aren't half as horrifying insects that infest our apartments.
