THE BRONX — Police arrested a man Thursday accused of murdering two people in The Bronx over the summer.

Luis Chacon, 37, of Mount Hope, has been charged with two counts of murder for the fatal shooting of Beramy Garcia, 33, and Yajahira Duverge, 37, police said.

Witnesses and police say shots were fired near East 175th Street and Weeks Avenue at about 5:14 a.m. on July 25. Garcia and Duverge — who knew each other but were not romantically involved — were nearby and struck by the gunfire, officials said.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene while Duverge was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, according the NYPD.

Garcia was the father of two boys and from Morris Heights, and Duverge lived in Wakefield, police said.

The NYPD sent out an advisory for information regarding Chacon the day after the shooting, July 26.
