10 Pizzerias to Try Right Now

Don’t let the bodega storefront — with the colorful fluorescent lights — fool you. This is, indeed, a new pizza shop. Jose Morales, who previously owned APT78 in the same location, is bringing back a large menu of wood-fired pizza with a beer lineup that includes Bronx Brew, Bodega Brew and Golden Monkey.

From the owners of Champs Diner (the vegan eatery that convinced even the most avid meat-eaters that veganism could be cool) comes Screamer’s Pizzeria — offering vegan pizza and Italian fare like roasted seitan, spaghetti and meatballs, fried eggplant marinara and tiramisu milkshakes.

Luzzo’s installed a pizza oven straight from Italy at 310 Bowery Bar and are now serving up traditional pizzas, like the 310 Bowery special with mozzarella, mushrooms, prosciutto and truffle pate. Pizzas are priced $10 to $14 and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, bar-goers are offered a $10 beer and pizza special.

After more than 20 years in Manhattan, Da Ciro Ristorante is bringing its signature Italian dishes to Clinton Hill. Savor old favorites that include ten pasta dishes from Da Ciro’s original menu, as well as some new, experimental plates like Italian tacos and sliders. The restaurant will also serve brunch for the first time with the addition of breakfast pizzas, served with an egg on top.

Clinton Hill pizzeria Pizza Loves Emily just opened up a Williamsburg shop where they’re featuring deep-dish, Detroit-style pizza pies and juicy hamburgers on pretzel buns.

Chef Giovanni Vittorio Tagliafierro has reworked the former Testaccio Ristorante space into a new eatery serving Italian dishes inspired by every region of his native country, including wood-fired pizza cooked in the style of the Almafi Coast. The restaurant is offering specials, including all you can eat slices every Tuesday night and $1 oysters Thursdays through Sundays.
