In an announcement that delighted many but surprised few, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama was awarded to Lin-Manuel Miranda for his musical, "Hamilton."
“Hamilton” is the first musical play to win the prize since “Next to Normal” in 2010. Playbill tweeted that "Hamilton" is now one of nine musicals in history to win the Pulitzer.
This isn't the first big win for Lin-Manuel Miranda, who received a MacArthur Genius grant for the musical.
