PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — A popular neighborhood cafe plans to expand its offerings to dinner service soon with an application to serve wine and beer, its owners said.

Blessings Herbs & Coffee opened more than a year ago at 663 Flatbush Ave. near Hawthorne Street in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, first offering coffee, tea and cafe fare like salads, sandwiches and soup, then expanding to brunch and a take-out menu.

Now, its owners hope to add in-house, small-plates dinner service to the menu, as well, and use their backyard space to serve beer and wine, according to a liquor license application to Community Board 9 heard by the board Tuesday night.

Members voted 33 to 2 to approve the Blessings license. The State Liquor Authority will use the board’s recommendation to make a final determination for the license.

The board also approved a new beer and wine license application for Smorgasburg, the outdoor food market set to take place weekly in Prospect Park this summer, and a renewal of the full liquor license in operation at the Bluestone Cafe at the Lakeside skating rink in the park.
