RED HOOK — An update on a long-delayed plan to renovate Red Hook's public library is scheduled for next week, officials announced.
The meeting will be held on Jan. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library's branch, located at 7 Wolcott St. near Dwight Street.
The library's renovation was a contentious issue for the neighborhood, with dozens of residents divided over an earlier plan presented in 2014 that sought to convert roughly half the main library room into dance and rehearsal studios for artists.
That plan however was tabled to make time for additional community input.
Last April, Brooklyn Public Library hosted another community meeting to find out what residents really wanted to see at the revamped library.
"At next week's meeting, we'll share the results of that workshop and discuss the upcoming capital project at the branch," a BPL spokeswoman said in a statement.
"We look forward to continuing the community dialogue and working together to create a better Red Hook library."
The branch suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Sandy and is "long overdue" for a full renovation, officials previously said.
