While Whiskey Social’s major bragging point is their selection of about 100 different whiskeys from all over the world, they also serve dinner and brunch. Special dishes include duck fat confit chicken wings with hot sauce and blue cheese, fried pickles with buttermilk garlic dipping sauce and a “Southern burger” with barbecue sauce and fried pickles.

Freelancers and locals working from home have a new spot to check out in the neighborhood. P.D.Q, which stands for “Pretty Damn Quick,” finally started its morning service last week after opening for evening cocktails and tapas-style snacks in July. The eatery will now open at 9 a.m. with wireless Internet, an array of coffees from $1.5 to $4 and a few breakfast options like yogurt parfait. They also have a selection of sandwiches for $6.

BK Jani, 276 Knickerbocker Ave., Bushwick

Dubbed by owners as an “authentic Pakistani picnic,” BK Jani brings grilled lamb chops, steak, chicken, and more to Knickerbocker Avenue. Served on paper plates atop picnic tables, dishes include sliders, grilled pineapple slices with cinnamon, and roasted corn and leek salad. The walls serve as canvases for local artists and a magnet wall allows diners to write their own messages.

Aaheli, 71-51 Yellowstone Blvd., Forest Hills

Aaheli, which, according to the owners, means "pure" in Sanskrit, opened its first location in 2009 on Ninth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Earlier this month, the restaurant, which serves a large menu of Northern and Southern Indian dishes, expanded to Forest Hills. The eatery offers a variety of seafood and meat options, including tandoori-style dishes. Vegetarians will also be able to choose from more than 20 meatless dishes as well as several bean and lentil specials.

Cemitas El Tigre, 45-14 48th Ave., Sunnyside

The menu also includes housemade dumplings, roasted duck buns, kimchi seafood pancakes and chicken wings with sweet chili sauce.

Harbs, a Japanese company, opened its first U.S. location in Chelsea last year, and last week, opened a second on Third Avenue. The cake, coffee and tea shop has a selection of 13 cake varieties, including its signature melon, grapefruit and cherry cakes, 10 tea blends from Japan, and four coffee blends roasted in its Seattle-based factory. In the next few months, Harbs plans on adding pasta dishes to its Upper East Side menu.
