CONCOURSE — The Bronx woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death for cheating told police she was protecting herself.

"I called 911. I stabbed him. It was self-defense," Kristal Delvalle, 23, told police after fatally stabbing Norberto Cruz-Valentin in the chest on March 9 inside their shared apartment at 1064 Carroll Pl, according to her statement to police.

Cruz-Valentin had actually texted his boss to let him know he was going to be late for work, and Delvalle became angry, his stepfather Gary Collins said.

She told police she thought he was unfaithful and he attacked her when she confronted him.

"He grabbed my hair and punched my face," she said, according to court documents. "He was on Facebook with another woman."

Delvalle told police that her feelings for Cruz-Valentin had not changed.

"I'm sorry, Norbi," she said. "I love you."

She was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

A motion to dismiss Delvalle's indictment was denied in court on Monday, and she is due to make her next appearance on Sept. 2.

Cruz-Valentin's family members described Delvalle as being very possessive of him and working to keep him away from them while the two were dating.

Collins said that the family still missed him very much but was doing their best to move forward.

“It’s tough,” he said, “but we’re forging ahead.”
