Winnie is a golden retriever/corgi mix rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico by Animal Lighthouse Rescue, a network of volunteers who find streetdogs in Puerto Rico and bring them back to New York City to be adopted.

Winnie is estimated to be 3 or 4 years old. She is spayed and up-to-date on all of her shots.

Rescuers say she is a calm dog, but still likes to go on walks and play. She loves everybody — all people, kids, other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch.

“Winnie was found on the streets of Puerto Rico, emaciated and scared," Julie Sinaw from Animal Lighthouse says. "It looked like she hadn’t eaten in weeks. She was hiding in a corner of a parking lot. When we went to go see her, she wagged her tail and gave us kisses. She was the sweetest. We nursed her back to health and now she is healthy and ready to be adopted.”

Sinaw says the pup is named after Winnie the Pooh “because she is adorable, short and stubby, and sweet as honey. You can’t get a better dog than Winnie.”

How to adopt: Winnie is currently being fostered downtown. For more information on Winnie, email julie.animallighthouserescue@gmail.com or submit an application.
