FLATIRON — Eataly's Nutella bar is here to stay — and it gave away free Nutella-filled cones on Wednesday evening to celebrate.
The Nutella Bar — which was originally meant to be a pop-up replacing Eataly's wine store that was forced to close last spring because of State Liquor Authority infractions — is now going to be a permanent fixture at Eataly, the grocer announced.
The permanent bar at the corner of 23rd Street and Fifth Avenue will offer coffee drinks and baked sweets slathered in the hazelnut-chocolate spread.
To mark its opening at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the cafe gave out free mini sugar cones filled with warm Nutella to its first 300 customers, organizers said.
The Nutella bar will be similar to the pop-up that opened last year, but will feature a wider menu, according to a spokeswoman for Eataly. The menu will include Belgian waffles topped with Nutella and gelato for $7.80 and hazelnut cookies filled with Nutella for $4.80.
Nutella drinks, like Nutella iced coffee and Nutella espresso, will also be available, according to the cafe's menu. Drinks prices will range from $3.75 to $8.
The 1,000-square-foot space, which will be attached to the main Eataly market, will have tables and seats for 20 people, the spokeswoman said. The Nutella Bar will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Eataly Vino, which reopened in October 2014 just after the six-month long Nutella Bar pop-up closed, was moved a few doors down, at 200 Fifth Ave., about three weeks ago, the organizers said.
