BROOKLYN — The Senate voted Thursday to approve Brooklyn US Attorney Loretta Lynch for the top law enforcement job in the country.

Lynch, who will be the first African-American woman to serve as the US Attorney General, was confirmed by a 56-43 vote.

Lynch was first nominated by President Barack Obama in November, but the confirmation was delayed over politic disagreements between the president and Senate Republicans.
