FORDHAM — An adorable Shih Tzu-poodle mix that was found wandering the tunnels of the D train line near Fordham last week has captured the heart of the MTA worker who found her.

Charles Gaston, 42, one of the MTA workers who discovered "Delta the Track Dog" on Feb. 12 took the pup home, as Bronx News 12 first reported Monday, though it's not clear if he'll be able to keep her.

Gaston took her to a vet after finding her and got her vaccinated, then took her to his Valentine Avenue home.

Gaston has a meeting scheduled on Tuesday afternoon with a family whose dog went missing on Feb. 9 and believes that Delta is theirs.

“I am gonna be sad if I have to give her up,” he told DNAinfo New York.

Gaston, who has worked for the MTA for seven years, quickly proved to be an enthusiastic pet owner and even launched an Instagram account for his new furry friend.

"I wanted people to know her story and I wanted them to fall in love with her the way I did," Gaston said. "She was a strong enough dog to survive the New York City subway. Normally when we find an animal down there they’re already dead."
