CROWN HEIGHTS — A leopard, a monkey and a gator, oh my!
They’ll all be at the Jewish Children’s Museum for a first-time performance by Wild World of Animals, a Pennsylvania-based wildlife show.
The JCM show will include a 2-year old vervet monkey named Rollie, an American alligator and a gopher tortoise, according to Grant Kemmerer, a Wild World performer and animal handler.
He’ll also have a 6-month old African spotted leopard named Betty with him, but fear not, parents — there will be roughly 15 feet between the audience and the leopard, which will be on a leash or in a cage the entire time.
“The animals are not pets,” Kemmerer said, adding that the 30-minute presentation aims to be educational and entertaining, teaching kids “the importance of all animals as a function of nature.”
There will be about a dozen animals altogether, who will be presented on stage one by one. In addition to Rollie and Betty, lizards, arachnids and birds of prey will join the program.
Wild World has been doing wildlife shows for more than 20 years and Kemmerer is licensed by New York State to exhibit wild animals, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The program will run multiple times a day on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Tickets must be purchased in advance online or by calling the ticketing office at 718-907-8833. A ticket for the museum that includes admission to the wildlife show is $15.
