RED HOOK — A local rapper has created a music video about the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy in his neighborhood.
Tyquan Carter, 22, raps about the effect of the storm on his home, job and life, showing television news clips of the storm's coverage, along with images of flooding and fallen trees.
"It's Hurricane Sandy. Everything ain't fine and dandy," Carter says, in the song.
The Red Hook Initiative, where Carter is a member of the "young adult program," tweeted out the video Thursday.
The program offers support to young adults through counseling, job development and tutoring, among other services, according to the nonprofit's website.
"We had no lights. No heat," Carter raps.
"Red Hook got it bad," the rapper says in the song. "Is it Armageddon?"
