ELM PARK —  Family and friends set up a memorial at the Elm Park intersection where a 21-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after he struck his Honda into a light pole.

Jose Luis Arlequin was blocks away from his John Street home when he lost control of his car and crashed into a light pole on the intersection of Richmond Terrace and Sharpe Avenue, cops said.

Candles, flowers and signs taped to the light pole and covered with handwritten memorial messages for Arlequin decorated the site of the fatal crash, which was still littered with pieces of Arlequin’s 1996 grey Honda Monday.

“We miss you,” one sign read.

Police at the accident found Arlequin with serious trauma to the body. He was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Arlequin was traveling westbound on Richmond Terrace when he lost control of his car and struck the pole, police later determined. No criminality was suspected, but an investigation was ongoing, police said.
