MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A registered sex offender was sentenced to up to life in prison for a string of home invasions and attacks on Upper East Side women last year.

Tyrone Hunter, 56, admitted to following three women into their buildings on East 69th Street, East 83rd Street and East 89th Street during the frightening two-day spree that started on Nov. 24, 2010.

Hunter blindfolded one woman and forced her to undress before he stole jewelry and electronics. Later that day, he followed a second victim home, but did not take anything from her. Hunter threw the third victim to the ground inside her building, but did not steal anything.

“The defendant went on a one-man crime spree over two days, which showed no signs of abating before he was apprehended,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement.

“His lengthy prison sentence will keep a violent criminal off our streets and will prevent him for carrying out future attacks on women.”

Hunter pleaded guilty on Jan. 30 to burglary and attempted burglary and was promised a sentence of 18 years-to-life behind bars in exchange for the plea.

He was convicted of a first-degree rape in the 1970s and was considered at a high risk of committing another sex crime.
