MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A Harlem man charged with raping a sleeping woman after climbing into her first floor apartment through a window one early morning last week has been indicted.

Prosecutors said Jason Quinones, 21, attacked the 27-year-old woman on Aug. 13 between 4:30 and 5 a.m. at the woman's East 90th Street apartment. At a brief court appearance Friday, where the accused rapist did not appear, prosecutors told the court an indictment had been handed down by a grand jury.

Quinones told police the sex had been consensual, but admitted to stealing her cell phone so she could not call for help, an assistant district attorney said at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday.

Family members present at his arraignment on Monday said Quinones is the father of a young child and had been working a construction job.

He was ordered held without bail, is due back in court Sept. 21.
