Man Suspected of Hacking Girlfriend to Death Indicted

MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — An aspiring public relations bigwig charged with brutally slashing and beating his girlfriend to death when she tried to end their relationship was indicted by a grand jury on Friday.

The alleged killer, Raul Barrera, was indicted in connection to the horrific slay of 23-year-old Sarah Coit inside their 63 Clinton St. apartment on April 10.

Prosecutors said he mutilated the helpless woman so badly her organs were exposed when she was discovered with slashes to the face and torso.

Barrera has a history of violent behavior. Last year he pleased guilty to charges he had attacked a man with a bottle inside the Murray Hill home he shared with Coit. Neighbors at their previous address recalled loud screaming matches in the couple's apartment.

Barrera is next scheduled to appear in court on this case on May 12, when the indictment will be unsealed.
