MANHATTAN — Giants legend Lawrence Taylor was indicted Wednesday on charges he raped a teenage prostitute.

An upstate grand jury handed down the indictment that included the rape charge, as well as other charges including criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute, the Daily News reported.

Taylor, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on May 6 at Holiday Inn upstate, where prosecutors say he paid a 16-year-old girl to have sex with him.

The alleged victim also claimed Taylor verbally and physically assaulted her after a pimp brought her to his hotel room, according to reports.

Taylor has denied the charges, reportedly claiming he pleasured himself but did not have sex with the teen, the News reported.

Following the indictment, Taylor’s longtime agent Mark Lepselter told ESPN.com that Taylor expected to overcome his legal woes.

"Obviously it's not a pleasant day for Lawrence and his family, but LT's had to overcome many obstacles in the past and is hopeful he'll be able to overcome this one as well," Lepselter said.
